She also had the pleasure of studying at the University of Oxford with, among others, Dr. Nicholas Crowe, who was eternally patient while she nervously read essays in the room where Iris Murdoch had done the same with her students during her teaching years. Cynthia is a staff writer with a military newspaper where she writes a weekly book review column. Her poetry can be read in Temenos, elimae, and under a former name at 42opus; book and film reviews appear or are forthcoming on publishers' and other sites throughout the web, including Bookslut.com, NewPages and Tarpaulin Sky. She was a preliminary judge for the 2007 Million Writers' Award. She holds a degree in piano performance and is a self-taught artist whose work appeared in the Christus St. Patrick Foundation Invitational Art Show and Auction, as well as in various art shows in Louisiana.
